The 2022 RE:Her Academy

The 2022 RE:Her LA Academy program will award ten grants of $20,000 each to be used toward business growth, along with a ten-week learning program with industry experts on a variety of topics to help grow and sustain your business. 

The application will open on Monday, July 11 at 8:00am PST. The deadline to submit applications is July 29, 2022 at 11:59pm PST. Awardees will be announced the week of August 12, 2022. 

Please read through the following information to help you understand whether you meet the Academy criteria and the information you will need to provide as part of the application.

Qualifications

• You must be a member of RE:Her LA (you can see the membership criteria and join RE:Her LA here - there is no membership fee, and signing up is easy). 
• Your business must be at least 50% woman- or women-owned.
  • (This means at least 50% of the business is owned by one or more women. For example, one woman who owns 50% of the business, two women who each own 50%, three women who each own 20%, etc. However, only one woman owner per business will be able to participate in the Academy program.) 
• The business must have been open for one to three years, with projected 2022 revenue between $250,000 and $1 million.

Program Details

• Ten $20,000 grants will be awarded.
• The grant funds must be used for the growth of your business (for example, increasing awareness of your business through branding/marketing, purchasing equipment or technology needed to grow your business, hiring professional services to make your business more compliant or efficient, educational programs for you or your team members, moving to a bigger location or opening an additional location, developing new products, etc.).
• The funds may not be used for items such as lapsed rent or vendor bills. If you have any questions, please email us at grants@regardingherfood.org.
• Recipients must commit to participating in the ten-week RE:Her Academy, in which participants will meet twice per week between August 22 and October 27, 2022.
  • Academy sessions will take place every Monday from 10:00-12:00 PST and every Thursday from 10:00-11:30 PST. 
  • Most sessions will be held via Zoom, with a few held in person.
  • Recipients must participate in at least 75% of the Academy sessions in order to receive the grant funds.
• Grants will be paid out in full upon completion of the Academy program.
• Recipients must agree to participate in post-program tracking and updates. Six months after completion of the Academy and receipt of the grant, recipients must participate in an independent review of their participation in the program as well as how they spent the grant funds. Recipients must be willing to talk about the impact of our program and be a part of a case study that can help RE:Her evaluate its effectiveness and garner support for future programs.

Application Information Needed

You will need to provide basic information about your business and answer some questions about how you might use the grant to grow your business and what you hope to learn from the Academy program. The business information you will need to provide includes: 

• 2022 revenue and net profit for Q1/Q2
• Projected 2022 year-end revenue
• Annual revenue and net profit for 2021, 2020, and 2019 (for years open during that time)
• P&Ls for each year open and to date in 2022
